When you ring
What helps us find the right door first time
El Campello is 23 kilometres of coast plus the partidas behind it, and an address that is clear to you can be hard to find at night. These five details save the most time:
- The district or urbanisation: Muchavista, Carrer la Mar, Coveta Fumà, Pueblo Acantilado, El Vincle…
- The street, the building and the floor, or the name of the residencial on the gate.
- The nearest tram stop, if you know it. The line runs the length of the coast, and stop names are landmarks everyone shares.
- Which lock is the problem: the communal portal, the garden gate or your own front door.
- A pin and a photo on WhatsApp, if you still have your phone.
Somebody at risk inside, a child, a person who is unwell, something on the hob: call 112 first, then us.
What the calls are
The emergencies behind most night calls in El Campello
-
The door shut behind you
Out to the bins or down to the communal pool, keys on the kitchen table. A latched door is the one most likely to open without a mark; how that is done is explained separately.
-
Keys lost on a night out
Dropped on the promenade or left on the tram. If anything with them shows your address, the cylinder should be changed that night, not next week: see a new cylinder.
-
Half a key in the cylinder
Usually an old key in a lock that has gone stiff. The stub is extracted; the cylinder is replaced only if it has been damaged.
-
The key turns and nothing happens
Something broke inside the door, often the gearbox of a multipoint lock. Forcing it makes it worse. The door is opened first and the mechanism repaired after.
-
A forced door at two in the morning
After a break-in the first job is a door that locks again tonight. The rest is on the burglary repair page.
-
Keys inside the car
Outside the house or by the beach: car door opening is available at any hour as well, and it is opening only.
Timing
Why there is no "fifteen minutes" anywhere on this site
From Muchavista, on the boundary with Sant Joan, to the Carritxal cove on the edge of La Vila Joiosa, the town runs along the coast for 23 kilometres, and the inland partidas reach up towards Busot and Aigües on winding roads. How long it takes to reach you depends on where the last job was, the time of night and which end of the town you are at.
Fiesta week changes things too. The Moros i Cristians bring parades through the centre every October, in honour of Santa Teresa, with the Moorish landing on the beach at dawn on the 12th. On those nights a van may have to take the long way round.
So the time you are given is worked out on the call, for your address at that moment. Being answered at four in the morning is something we can promise. Arriving in a fixed number of minutes is not, so you will not see one written here.
The visit
From your call to a door that locks again
-
An estimate for your street
Worked out while we talk, so you can decide whether to wait or make other plans for the night.
-
Proof the door is yours
Before anything is touched: an ID or padrón certificate showing the address, a rental contract, a booking, or the owner or community president on the phone.
-
The price agreed at the door
Once the lock has been looked at and before any tool goes near it.
-
Through the lock before the drill
Most lockouts open through the cylinder with nothing broken. Drilling is for when nothing else works, and you are asked first.
-
Locked before we leave
A drilled cylinder, or keys that are now in a stranger’s pocket, means a new cylinder fitted there and then, not a second visit.
Everywhere we reach, district by district, is on the coverage page, and the phone, WhatsApp and email are all on the contact page.

Two situations worth reading about before they happen
Coming home late by tram to the northern urbanisations and finding no keys has its own checklist: off the last tram at Coveta Fumà with no keys. And the most common morning lockout of all is in locked out on the school run to Villa Marco.
Asked on the phone
Asked from the wrong side of the door
My phone is locked inside with the keys. How do I reach you?
Ask to borrow one: a neighbour, a bar on the promenade, the reception of a hotel or apartment complex. Tell us which number you are calling from, so we can ring you back on it as we get close.
Someone vulnerable is inside, or the oven is on.
Ring 112 before anyone else. The emergency services are sent for exactly this and will get there first. When everybody is safe, call us to make the door lock properly again.
A piece of key is stuck in the cylinder. Can I get it out with tweezers?
Better not. Picking at it usually pushes the stub further in. Left alone, it normally comes out whole with an extractor, and in most cases the cylinder can stay in the door afterwards.
Do you come up to Busot, Aigües and Mutxamel in the middle of the night?
Yes, the four neighbouring towns are covered at any hour, as is every district of El Campello. On the hill roads, send a pin on WhatsApp: house numbers are hard to read from the road in the dark.
Will I be charged just for you coming out?
The price is talked through at the door, after the lock has been looked at and before anything is done to it. If you decide not to go ahead at that point, you say so.
Next along the line
Once the door is open
-
Opening a door without damage
Front doors opened through the lock itself: latch slipping, picking, or bypass, with the drill kept for the rare door that leaves no other way in.
-
A cylinder that resists snapping
New euro cylinders, snap-resistant and anti-bump upgrades, tired multipoint gearboxes: planned work on a day that suits you.
-
Making a forced door safe
A forced door made to lock again on the first visit, and a stronger cylinder, guard plate or armoured lock once the police report is filed.
Guides that deal with this
Still outside?
Ring now. If you cannot talk, WhatsApp where you are and what the lock is doing, and we will call you back.
