The right choice when the old one simply wore out or the keys need to change. - **Anti-snap and anti-bump** A cylinder designed to break at a sacrificial line and keep locking if someone tries to snap it, and pins that resist bumping and picking. Worth it on any door reachable from the street. - **Multipoint repairs** The hooks and bolts along the edge of the door, driven by a gearbox. When they drag, the door is adjusted; when the gearbox wears, it is replaced. Undo the long screw in the edge of the door, below the latch, and the cylinder slides out once the key is turned slightly. Measure from the centre screw hole to each end. Or simply send a photo of the door edge and the lock face on WhatsApp. ### Can one key open both the front door and the garden gate? Usually, if both take a euro cylinder of a make that can be keyed alike. Cylinders for the two doors are ordered as a matched pair, so a single key works on both. ### We bought a resale flat. Is changing the cylinder enough, or the whole lock? In most cases the cylinder is enough: it is the part the keys belong to. The lock body behind it only needs changing if it is worn, damaged or too weak for the cylinder you want. ### Our multipoint lock needs the handle lifted hard before the key will turn. That is the door sitting lower than the keeps in the frame, or a gearbox beginning to wear.
